Simple Hacks for Cleaning Your Home

Try these somewhat unorthodox methods for cleaning your home, and breeze right through your daily/weekly cleaning schedule. Most of these hacks include things you already have on hand to help make cleaning a breeze.

1. Reuse Dryer Sheets
Dryer Sheets can be used to remove water spots from faucets and mirrors. They can also be used to clean baseboards and will also help repel dust from landing on them again for a bit.

2. Dish Soap
Use warm water and a drop or two of dish soap to clean your blender. Just fill it up turn it on for a few seconds and then rinse with warm water. Wedding ring looking dull? Diamond earrings covered with crud? Put a few drops of dawn dish soap in a bowl of warm water and soak your jewelry then clean with a soft bristle toothbrush.

3. Baking Soda and Vinegar
The Holy Grail of cleaning products is the combination of baking soda and vinegar. When combined they can be used to make grout look brand new, clean stains and pet odors out of carpet, and deodorize your sink. Used separately baking soda can be combined with laundry detergent to brighten clothes, and vinegar can be added to the rinse cycle to act as a natural fabric softener. Vinegar can also be used to remove hard water stains from faucets and glass shower doors.

4. Coca Cola
Coca Cola is a surprising way to remove rings from toilet bowls, and clean stains out of porcelain sinks. It can also be used to remove grease and oil stains from clothing – just add a can to the wash cycle with your detergent and let it get to work.

5. Rubbing Alcohol
Stainless steel appliances are notoriously difficult to keep free from fingerprints and smudges. Enter rubbing alcohol – put a few drops on a microfiber cloth and buff out any fingerprints or smudges. You can also mix four parts rubbing alcohol with one part salt and use it to clean up grease stains.

6. Toothpaste
Sneakers looking dingy? Use white toothpaste and a toothbrush to scrub stains out of the white part of your shoes and make them look brand new again.

7. Play-Doh
Hard to pick up items such as broken glass and glitter can evade even the most powerful vacuum cleaners. Ball up play doh and gently press it onto them instead for fast easy clean up.
