Transitioning Your Home Décor for Fall

Now that the days are getting shorter, and the weather is getting cooler its time to transition your home décor for fall. With lots of seasonal fruits and gourds, flowers, and fun fall colors to choose from your home will look better than ever.

1. Switch Out Pillows and Blankets

One of the easiest ways to transition your home for fall, is to switch out the pillows and blankets in your living space. Whether your fall vibe is buffalo plaid, or burnt oranges and reds, switching pillows and blankets is a quick way to make your house feel cozier and warmer for autumn.

2. Bowls of Seasonal Fruits

Setting out a bowl of seasonal fruits is a great way to bring a little fall flair into your home, without spending a lot of money. Think apples, persimmons, and pomegranates for a pretty fall centerpiece on your island or kitchen table.

3. Think Outside the Pumpkin Box

When setting out pumpkins and gourds, think outside the box! You can spray paint pumpkins, add glitter, or glue on lace and fabric to spice them up and make them fit in with your current home décor – or stand out all on their own.

4. Create a Glow with Candles and Lanterns

Nothing says fall like the warm cozy glow of a lantern or candle.  Groupings of lanterns look amazing in front of a fireplace or on the end of a mantle.  Likewise, you can group candles on end tables, kitchen tables, and mantels or built ins to give your house a warm glow.

5. Change Your Scents

Whether you are a fan of apple orchards or pumpkin spice lattes you can find candles and wallflower oils to match your personal tastes and make anyone who enters your home immediately think of fall.  Spicy cinnamon and warm caramel scents are also reminiscent of a warm fall day and will make your home feel a bit more relaxed.

6. Dress Up Your Table

Don’t forget your kitchen and dining room tables when transitioning your home for fall.  Placemats, simple fall colored or pattern plates, and napkins are a cheap way to bring a taste of fall to your dining areas.  Coupled with a bowl of seasonal fruit, or a grouping of candles, you can get a lot of bang for not a lot of money.

7. Don’t Forget the Outside

When transitioning your home, don’t forget to decorate the outside! Switch out the flowers in your outdoor planters for cabbages and grasses, you can even tuck little pumpkins in as well.  Groupings of lanterns on entry way steps, pumpkins by the front door, outdoor pillows, and mums are all great ways to bring a little taste of fall to the outside of your home.
